Bermuda's subtropical climate makes it a popular holiday destination for sun seeking travellers. Though the great weather isn't everything Bermuda has to offer. Whilst the island is small, just under 21 square miles, it is packed with things to do and many wonders to see; intimate coves, tropical flora and fauna, world class golf courses, history and culture, amazing sunrises and sunsets. It's no wonder that once visited it remains a firm favourite of our clients who return to it year after year
The subtropical nature of the Bermuda climate means that the Island very rarely sees extremes in temperature or weather, making it an ideal year round destination. However, the best time to visit might well depend on the activities you wish to enjoy whilst visiting Bermuda.
Bermuda sees its warmest temperatures between May and October when temperatures sit comfortably between 75° and 85°F. August is the hottest month when temperatures can reach up to 90°F.
Humidity is also high during the summer (85% and upwards), but the Island is kept cool by the almost constant ocean breezes and the Gulf stream helps keep the air temperate.
Water temperatures also reach a very pleasant 86°F (30°C) during the summer making it an ideal time to visit for water based activities such as snorkelling, swimming and scuba diving.
Come the Winter months (December to March) the climate takes on a more spring like feel with temperatures ranging between 60° and 70°F. This makes it ideal for exploring the Island comfortably and taking part in one of the many outdoor recreations Bermuda has to offer. Golf, tennis and sailing are just some of the activities that feature all year round in the Bermuda calendar. Though whilst the days are pleasantly warm it is advisable to pack a few warm items of clothing for early morning and evening.
The water is also cooler during Bermuda's winter (66°F in January to 75°F in March), but still warm enough for enthusiastic snorkellers and divers. Swimming is still possible as most of Bermuda's beaches are open during the winter months, but it is appreciably cooler than the summer.
When to visit Bermuda
Unlike other parts of the nearby Caribbean, Bermuda has no distinct rainy season nor a typical month of excess rain. Whilst there is the occasional heavy shower these soon clear to reveal sunny days and clear skies – known locally as the “Bermuda High”. Typically Bermuda sees around 4 inches of rain per month.
Sun lovers looking to top up their tan and relax on one of Bermuda's beautiful pink sand beaches will find the Summer months the best time to visit the Island.
Those looking to explore Bermuda or take part in outdoor pursuits such as wildlife excursions, golf or tennis might find the Winter months a more comfortable time to visit.
