Experience a rich and varied culture and tradition of the Khmer, the historical Angkor Wat, alongside fantastic food and Kratie.
Angkor Wat is the biggest Hindu temple and largest religious monument in the world. Built in the 12th century, this wonder of Asian architecture is one of the most important archaeological sites in Asia, as well as being a UNESCO world heritage site. Angkor itself covers an area of around 400 sq. kilometres and is a labyrinth of canals and temples. This stunning monument to Asian history is a symbol of Cambodia and appears on the flag, as well as being the most popular tourist attraction in the country, and is a must see for anyone planning a holiday there.
For more than a millennia the Khmer culture has produced much of the architecture, sculptures and art that make up Cambodia today. The culture still thrives and can be seen in the market stalls, shops and the very attitudes of the people today. Visitors who immerse themselves in the Khmer culture are sure to leave culturally enriched, with a new found love for everything Cambodia.
The cuisine in Cambodia is excellent and offers a wide variety to suit most tastes. Not as spicy as some of the surrounding countries, Cambodian food is regarded as one of the world’s oldest cuisines and is something not to be missed. Another great aspect to Cambodian cuisine is that you can eat like a king for a very reasonable price, so you don’t have to worry about breaking the bank.
The Kratie offers a chance to get away from it all and relax. Glimpse the renowned Kratie dolphins on the Mekong River, or simply relax and take in the unchanged environment. Either way, this remote province of Cambodia will allow you time to see the real unspoiled side of Cambodia in an area light on tourists.
