Relax and Recharge in the Maldives
Maldives beaches really are the stuff that dreams are made of. Beaches of soft white sand lined with tropical vegetation stretch the length of the islands, encouraging visitors to do nothing other than laze the day away. A perfect barefoot paradise. To cool off, a quick dip in the sea or snorkel round the house reef helps work up an appetitite before sampling some of the exquisite fine dining or tempting local Maldives dishes on offer. A luxurious spa treatment will take you even further into a realm of total relaxation on your Maldives holiday.
Dive the Maldives
The Maldives is one of the world's première diving destinations. The Maldives Islands are surrounded by the Indian Ocean, a body of plankton rich water supporting a wide range of marine life and ecosystems. Divers are treated to exquisite coral formations, easily reached tropical reefs and opportunities to spot dolphins, manta rays, whale sharks and many other varieties of fish. For diving enthusiasts, a holiday to the Maldives is the perfect choice. Most resorts have PADI centres from which you can arrange diving excursions. These trips by Dhoni (a traditional Maldives boat) will take you to some of the best dive sites in the world. There are dives to suit all levels of experience, with easy relaxing reef dives or more challenging open water adventures with strong currents and dives to deeper depths.
Explore the Maldives
Whilst on holiday in the Maldives, there are plenty of opportunities to take to the waves and explore neighbouring islands. An island hopping excursion is a great way to visit nearby inhabited islands, meet the locals and learn more about the unique Maldives culture and society. Or for an authentic Robinson Crusoe experience, you could arrange to be castaway for a day on one of the many uninhabited islands. It's a once in a lifetime experience allowing you to totally absorb the calm and tranquillity of the Maldives. Night fishing excursions also give you the chance to take a break from island life and try your hand at pole and line fishing - the traditional method of catching fish in the Maldives.
